Attachment & Relationship Anxiety Therapy

When relationships matter deeply, it can be exhausting to constantly wonder where you stand. Therapy can be a space to understand the patterns underneath the overthinking, worry and need for reassurance and begin building a more secure relationship with yourself and others.

You may be here because...

  • You overthink texts, conversations or small changes in someone's behaviour.
  • You often worry that you've done something wrong or upset someone.
  • You look for reassurance, but the relief doesn't seem to last.
  • You fear rejection, abandonment or losing an important relationship.
  • You find yourself people pleasing or avoiding conflict to keep the peace.
  • You become attached quickly and feel especially anxious when connection feels uncertain.
  • Setting boundaries brings up guilt, anxiety or fear of disappointing others.
  • You notice the same relationship patterns repeating, even when you want things to feel different.

Understanding your attachment patterns

The ways we learn to connect with other people don't develop in a vacuum. Early relationships, family dynamics, past experiences and previous relationships can all influence what closeness, trust, conflict and vulnerability feel like today.

Sometimes patterns that once helped you feel safe or connected can begin to leave you feeling anxious, unsure of yourself or responsible for maintaining the relationship.

Attachment focused therapy gives us space to become curious about those patterns, not to blame your past, but to better understand yourself in the present.

This isn't about putting you into a box.

You don't need to know your attachment style before coming to therapy. Attachment can simply give us another way of understanding why certain experiences feel particularly activating and why the same fears or patterns may continue to show up.

Together, we can explore your experiences with compassion and at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

When relationship anxiety takes over

Relationship anxiety can make even small moments feel significant. A delayed response, a change in someone's tone or an unresolved conversation might quickly turn into hours of wondering what it means.

You might replay conversations, look for signs that something is wrong, question whether you're too much or not enough, or feel a strong need to know that everything is okay.

Even when part of you recognizes that the worry may be taking over, simply telling yourself to “stop overthinking” often isn't enough. Therapy can help us look beneath the anxiety and understand what it may be trying to protect.

How Attachment Focused Therapy Can Help

Our work isn't about becoming a completely different person. It's about understanding yourself more deeply and creating room for new ways of responding when old fears or patterns show up.

Understand your patterns

Notice what tends to activate relationship anxiety and explore the experiences, beliefs and needs underneath those reactions.

Strengthen self worth

Explore the pressure to earn approval, be enough for others or rely on reassurance to feel secure in yourself.

Build healthier boundaries

Practice identifying your needs and setting boundaries without automatically feeling responsible for everyone else's reactions.

Navigate uncertainty

Develop greater awareness of anxious thoughts without allowing every fear or “what if” to determine what happens next.

Communicate your needs

Explore ways of expressing what you need while making room for both your own experience and the experiences of the people you care about.

Create more secure connections

Begin developing relationships that leave more room for trust, authenticity, vulnerability and connection.

A space to make sense of things together

You don't need to arrive with the right words, know exactly where your patterns came from or have a clear goal already figured out.

My approach is warm, collaborative and relational. Rather than viewing you as a list of symptoms to fix, we'll get curious about your experiences and make sense of what has been showing up for you.

Our work may explore attachment experiences, relationship patterns, anxiety, boundaries, people pleasing, perfectionism and self worth, while keeping your individual experiences and goals at the centre of therapy.

You don't have to have it all figured out.
